Drink Your Greens This St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is a time to celebrate Irish culture and heritage and is accompanied by a sea of green decorations, attire, and food. While you may be familiar with the traditional fare like corned beef and cabbage, why not take it further this year by introducing greens nutritional supplements into your diet?
We’ve all heard it: eat more greens! However, getting enough greens into our diets can be challenging despite their well-known health benefits. Factors such as busy lifestyles, limited access to fresh produce, and taste preferences can all contribute to this difficulty.
Sometimes it’s easier to reach for convenience foods that lack the nutritional value of greens. Additionally, it might be difficult to find appealing ways to prepare and incorporate greens into meals, especially if unfamiliar with cooking techniques or recipes that prominently feature vegetables. This can lead to a lack of variety in the diet, which can be deleterious to your overall health and well-being.
One delicious way to add greens to your diet is via powders that can be added to water, juice, or your favorite smoothie recipe. Greens powders are blends of nutrient-rich greens, such as spinach, kale, and spirulina, along with other ingredients like fruits, vegetables, probiotics, and digestive enzymes. These supplements are designed to provide a concentrated source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that may be lacking in your diet. An alternative to powders is capsules and gummies.
Nutritional supplements containing greens can be a convenient and effective way to boost your intake of essential nutrients and support overall health. However, it’s important to remember that supplements should not replace a healthy, balanced diet. As always, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional before adding any new supplement to your routine.
Consider this delicious green smoothie for your St. Patrick’s Day and beyond.
